Medium-duty pickup truck flatbed towing is built for the heavier end of the pickup category – three-quarter ton and one-ton trucks, often with dual rear wheels, diesel engines, or towing packages that add substantial weight compared to a standard half-ton pickup or passenger vehicle. These trucks need flatbed equipment actually rated for their weight, not the standard gear that works fine for a passenger car.
You need this specifically when your pickup falls into the heavier truck classes – three-quarter ton and one-ton trucks from any major manufacturer, particularly dually models with dual rear wheels that add both weight and width. Standard flatbed equipment sized for passenger vehicles often isn't rated to safely handle these trucks, and using undersized equipment risks both the truck being towed and the tow vehicle itself.
We dispatch flatbed equipment specifically rated for medium-duty truck weight, confirming the truck's actual weight and configuration before beginning the job, since this matters both for safety and for actually completing the tow without equipment strain. We account for dual rear wheel trucks' wider stance during loading and securing, using tie-down points and equipment capacity appropriate for the additional width and weight. We check the truck's drivetrain configuration as well, since many of these trucks come in four-wheel drive configurations, though flatbed transport handles that consideration automatically since the entire vehicle rides off the ground regardless of drivetrain.
Cost typically runs somewhat higher than standard passenger vehicle flatbed towing given the specialized equipment required for this weight class, with distance remaining the primary variable beyond that base difference. Trucks in Chicago, IL with heavy-duty towing packages or additional aftermarket weight sometimes need the higher end of medium-duty equipment capacity, which we'll confirm on dispatch.
Heavy trucks need properly rated equipment. Call (253) 319-3174 for medium-duty flatbed towing.
